Nicholas turns 4

Our gorgeous Nicholas turned 4 yesterday.. He had such a great day.. pancakes for brekky, riding his new bike, lego building, swimming in the pool and we ended the day with fish & chips down the marina with ice creams. Thanks to Liz & Derek and Mum and Dad who came to help us celebrate with him :)

Well it has been a very long time since i last posted on my blog. Life got very busy last year and i spent a lot of the year focusing on my Project 365 and hence let my blog slip a little. But this year i hope to post more about our family, photos and my weekly Project life updates, that i am doing digitally using Becky Higgins digital style "turquoise", available through Jessica Sprague.

Happy Father's Day

Father's day started with Pancakes for brekky. Lunch at the park with a play and a Game of golf.

Adam had a great day :)

We thought it would be funny to add Brett into our Father's day photo with dad Now that he is living in Geraldton he doesn't make it to all family get togethers.. but if you have photoshop skills like i do, you can make anyone appear.. ha hah ah a :)

I love these photos and seeing how much the kids have changed from last Father's Day to this year. xx

City to Surf

Whoooooooooo hoooooooooooooo... Yesterday Tracey and I completed the City to surf. We were entered in the 12 km walk section. At first we wanted to complete it between 2 - 2 1/2 hrs, but once we got going we challenged our self to finishing it under 2 hrs. ...... AND WE DID!!!!!

( it explains why body is in a whole world of hurt today... ha ha ha :)

I Thought I might give this a go. Someone posted a link from the Wild Olive Blog on the 365 Project site that i follow and it really interested me. I think it might take me out of my comfort zone a little and teach me a few new things in photography. I Will do it as a separate thing to my daily photos, because I'm not likely to get it done every single day, but will Number the photos as i finish them :) .. and they probably wont be in this particular order...lol

I have just spent a few days away in Karratha visiting my good friends Santino and Veronica.

It was so good to spend time catching up, it's been way too long. It was also really good to spend some time away just for me. As much as i love my kids and family i really needed some time out :)

My photo today for Project 365 was my baby girl giving me the best of cuddles. I think she missed me while i was gone xx

I love the simplicity of her pages and the colours she uses for her digi papers and embellishments are so vibrant and eye catching. The great thing about quick pages is that all the thinking is done for you, all you have to do is add your photos :)

Coffeeshop - Storybook Vintage Photo Action

The Coffeeshop blog has a new action to run in Photoshop elements, that gives your photos a soft vintage look.

I tried it out on a few of my older photos. The first is the original and the second photo is the action run over the photo. I really love what it has done to the last photo. It Changes the whole look of the photo and i think it looks heaps better.

Well it was going to happen it was only a matter of time. Elise has got the chicken pox. I knew she was going to get them from Sam because she hadn't been immunised yet ( wasn't old enough) and because it is so contagious.

Here is the photo i put up as my 365 photo of the day showing the beginning of her spots .... She doesn't seem overly upset by them yet, so hopefully she will be ok. .. It is only the first day though...LOL!!

It's not often that i can get the 5 "Sparkes" cousins together for a photo, and even still this is not the best of photos.. lol.. but cute none the less. I love how Nic and Brendan are doing the same thing at either end of the line, like book ends.. ha ha :)

I did this layout using the free JULY template off ChrissyW Digital blog. It was great to sit down and finally scrap some photos. These were the photos i took of Sam at his very first Auskick game back in May.

Been so Long..

Hello Blog and anyone who still actually checks my blog.. ha ha ah
It has been so long since i have had the chance to sit down and try and add to it. I find that my life is so crazy busy at the moment, that i try and make sure i at least, take my 365 photo of the day. ( if you click on the link you can check them out)
We have been sick with gastro, tonsillitis, chicken pox, coughs and colds that i feel like i'm on a never ending road trip to the chemist for antibiotics.. ha ha
Here are a couple of photos of the kids over the last month or so.

Elise is as cute as ever at the moment and loves to play tea parties and dolls with all her toys. She is still not sleeping very well, but i think the sickness that we have in the house at the moment is not helping. She wasn't able to have the little surgery on her face because we aren't sure yet whether or not she is going to get the chicken pox from Sam.

Sam is growing up way to quickly. He still loves his Auskick footy on the weekends. He got a wonderful report for his first semester of pre-primary and his portfolio was full of wonderful work :). He has had the chicken pox and a rotten cold with ear infections over the last month, poor little guy.

Nic loves going to his kindy on a Monday arvo. He is collecting AFL footy cards at the moment and can tell you just about every single one he has. He is still as cheeky as ever and loves climbing anything in sight as you can see from the photo below.. ha ha. He still loves his DVD's his favourite at the moment is Kung-Fu panda :)

So hopefully i will try and get back to updating my blog more regularly.

There are 2 very very special people in my life this year who turn 60. One is my gorgeous Mum and the other is my beautiful Mother-in-law.

These 2 amazing woman have done so much to enrich my life, with their love and support and friendship, and i know i am truly blessed to have them.

My mum is the best mum in the whole world. She and i have such a special bond. It is a bond that is stronger than a mother- daughter relationship. We are also best friends. We are so very close and i love her more than i possibly ever could. She has always been there for me, to love and guide me, be a firm influence when i needed it. My mum has done soooo much for me, since my kids have come along. I think it made our relationship so much stronger because i could finally understand and realise why she did what she did when were were kids. She loved us so unconditionally and wanted us to be the best people we could ever be.

I have learnt to be a wonderful mum to my kids because of her.

I have learnt to be a gorgeous person because of her.

I have learnt to love and be loved because of her.

Liz came into my life about 15 years ago when i met her eldest son, Adam. She and I have always had a lovely relationship. It has never ever been like one of those daughter in law relationships with the dreaded mother-in-law... ha ha ha

She is such a kind -hearted person. She has always made me feel like more than just a daughter-in-law. I feel like i am her daughter. She loves me and has done so much for me and my kids.

She is so giving of herself and is always there to help if i call.

I love that we talk everyday.

I love that we can laugh and chat and never run out of anything to talk about.

Thank you so much for loving me and allowing me to be apart of your gorgeous family.

So here is my Dilemma, what do you get for two beautiful woman for their 60th birthday that they don't already have.....

HBF " Run for a Reason"

Yesterday Derek, Claire and I participated in the 14km HBF Run for a Reason. Derek was in the running groups and Claire and I just walked it. It was such a cold morning, but once we got started it wasn't too bad. I was up and on the train by 6:30am. It took Derek 1 hr 22minutes to run it, which is a fantastic effort. Claire and I took a little longer... ha ha ha ha 2 hrs 25 mins .. but we didn't care. We had such a great morning chatting and laughing with each other... Thanks Claire and Derek for a great morning. I am a very sore this morning!!

It was soooooooo cold at 7:30am in the morning...lol

Scrapping with Paper

Last Saturday i went to Tomorrow's memories to help celebrate their 7th birthday with a Willy Wonka themed 12hr scrap. It was a great day and I even got a chance to complete a couple of layouts using paper. I think it has seriously been over 2 years since the last time i got a chance to do a paper layout, I tend to stick to my digi stuff at the moment because its easier with young kids. I did have fun doing the 5 that i completed. They aren't anything to difficult but at least i got a chance.. lol

Here are some photos of everyone dressed up for the day.. Was loads of fun!! And at the same time the shop raised over $3300 for the Cancer council with their morning tea and auction.

Project 365

I took this photo of Nicholas yesterday as my "photo of the day" for Project 365.

I then thought it might be a great idea and asked my family and Adam's family ( Nic's aunties, uncles, nanna, granma and grandad's) to give me some words that they would use to describe Nic... here is what they came up with.... I think they are perfect :)

It's really interesting to read what perception other people have on Nic and do you know what, they have done it to perfection. It really illustrates in words the beautiful fun-loving adventurous kid that is my Nicholas John.
Cant wait to do the same with Sam and Elise :)

I cant believe how grown-up Sam is becoming lately. I seriously think that its his year in Kindy and now having had a term and a bit in Pre-primary. He is just absorbing so much of the world around him and his need to want to learn new things and read & write and understand everything is so infectious.

Life has been so crazily busy that i think it was way back in 2010 that i actually got a chance to scrap my last Digi page..lol
By the time i had Christmas and everyone's birthday apart from mine.. there has been no time or even any motivation to scrap....So i decided to sit down this arvo and try to scrap up a few photos. They aren't the greatest or by far very technical but at least i got a chance to scrap..lol

Sam's Pirate Party

On Friday night we celebrated Sam's 5th birthday with a pirate party. His Birthday is not until tomorrow, but he had 6 little friends over for a swim and a play. We had a few games and some great party food!!

He wore a little pirate suit, being the birthday boy :)

Thanks to Liz, who helped me so much, collecting things for the party with a pirate theme, and being here on Friday to help me set up, she really did so much to help me get the party off the ground :)

Sandy & Jon's Wedding

Darcy Love

He is sooooooooooooooooooooooo cute.... Last Thursday i became an aunty again. Brett and Maggie had a little boy, Darcy. He weighed in at 6lb 7oz. and is the most cutest little thing ever..lol

Its amazing how quickly my kids are growing up.. I mean who would of thought that in 2 weeks time Sam will turn 5 and Elise is turning 1. I try sooo hard to enjoy every moment with them and at times it is so hard when you have all 3 of them at you, whinging or crying. And you find yourself getting cross at them because I'm tired and exhausted. When all they want is to be with me and have my attention and love xx
But then I look at photos like this and think, Geez i am so lucky and blessed to have 3 beautiful children. Who are healthy and happy and are as cute as buttons xxx

Its amazing to think that this photo was taken just under a year ago when Elise was born and then look at us all now..lol

Today we went to Mum and dad's for brunch and the boys ended up playing pirates with the Sunday paper. There were hats and swords made and then it was time to get grandad. Was a lot of fun!!

Sandy's Hens Day

Summer Nights - Marina

This heat is killing me !!!!!!...lol.... Perth has just recorded its hottest summer ever, and believe me, everyone is feeling the heat ....We decided to take the kids down to the Marina last night for a swim and some chips and ice creams for dinner. Mum and Dad came with us. We had some really nice pizzas for dinner, with a glass of wine as we watched the sun go down. The kids had a great time playing in the water, making sand castles and running around on the grass.

She follows him everywhere...

It wont be long now and i think Elise will be up and walking all by herself.

Peggy Sparkes

On Monday Adam's granny passed away. Peggy had been unwell for sometime and had been in and out of hospital for the last few years. She was a mother to 4 sons and had such a beautiful and loving Husband. They celebrated 60 yrs of marriage together. Peggy was a gentle caring lady, who never once forgot my kids birthday's or Christmas with a small gift / card. I went through my photos last night to find these for Derek and his dad Pat to use at the funeral on Monday. Such beautiful photos of Peggy.

May she now take comfort the loving arms of God xx

Nic's first day

Today Nic had his first day at Kallaroo Community Kindy. It is a 3 yr old programme. He was very excited to go. I dropped him off and stayed for a little bit where they did a few songs and stories. Then he was happy for me to go. All he wanted to do was go outside and play.... lol
Here he is ready to go with his bag and " spiky hair", just like Sam..lol

Here he is about 10minutes ago...lol.. Poor little guy is so tired and couldnt stay awake any longer :)

I took this photo at the end of December. It is such a beautiful photo of my 2 boys. I hadn't scrapped it yet, but i came across this FREE quick page over at Creativity By Crystal. I think it suits the quick page perfectly.

Looks great...lol.. Well i think anyway. I don't often use too many quick pages because i find them to flowery or not the right colours for my photos. I tend to love the bright colours. Crystal uses awesome colours and designs for her papers, that i find myself going back to her blog and products over and over again :)..

Peek-a-boo

I saw these 2 playing peek-a-boo this arvo and it brought back so many beautiful memories of these two together. They are so cute during the days while Sam is at Kindy. Elise follows Nic around all the time. They squeal and shout at the tops of their voices. ( this is only a few hundred photos i have of these two together..lol)

Sorry i haven't blogged for a while. Adam was in Melbourne for the week and the kids and i were home alone.
Sam is loving school and has had a few play dates already. Elise is walking around on every bit of furniture we have. I'll give her a few weeks and she'll be walking.. Boo hooooo ;)
Nic and I have been having some special one-on-one time while Sam is at School. Just doing activities together having me all to himself. I think he loves it :)

Celebrating 40 yrs

Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate Liz and Derek's 40th Wedding anniversary. We went to the Subi hotel for some cocktails and then went and had a lovely dinner at Bistro Felix. The food, drink and company was fantastic. Congrats Liz and Derek xxx

Sam went and had a sleep over at Nanna's house last night and spent yesterday arvo and this morning sliding on the water slide. The cutest thing was he rang Nic at 7:30am and asked him to come over and slide with him xx.... So both of them were sliding with Grandad by 8am this morning :)

Sam is turning into such a gorgeous boy at the moment and is so excited to be going into pre primary this year.

My little Tornado absolutely loved the water slide.. He has no fear :)

Was so funny to watch my dad try and get to his stomach on the water slide.. lets just say a 60 yr old man doesn't have the ability to get to his stomach in one foul swoop.... it takes about 6.. ha ha ha ... laughed so hard at this moment :)

A great way to spend the morning.. the boys laughter and fun is so infectious...lol

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY
We spent the day yesterday down by the River in Bassendean having a picnic. The boys did some fishing off the little jetty and we all had a ride on Deb and Kim's Boat. ( well all of us except Sam..lol)...The kids had such are great day and i loved catching up with my friend who i haven't seen for ages. Now that i live in greenwood and not Bassendean now i don't get a chance to see her as much anymore and i miss that. Here are some photos from our day.

Well I have decided that i am going to do this project again.. I know that many of you who might come and read my blog haven't seen my December photos from the end of last year, but unfortunately they are on my other laptop, which I'm having trouble with the power source / battery at the moment so i haven't been able to use it as much as i like. I am taking it in to get fixed later this week, so hopefully i can finish them off next week, and then i am going to do a bit of a slide show thingy of last year...
I really enjoyed this project last year, because it allowed me to prac. using my Camera daily, it was a great way to keep memories of our year and i love going back and looking at what our year had in store for us.

Well it has been a very busy festive season for us.. lol... The celebrations have been going for 4 days now and loving every bit of it!!... I thought i would just start with Christmas day and then each subsequent blog post, will show photos of our other celebrations.
Christmas day was spent with my Mum, Dad and brother Matt. Brett and Maggie were up in Geraldton.

Food for the Soul

It is such a nice night out with these girls every time we see each other. On Monday night we went to 150 East restaurant in Ascot for a Chrissy catch-up. Was such a good night with everyone talking, laughing and just enjoying each others company. There were prezzies for everyone which is always exciting :)

Sometimes to get organised to go out is such a mammoth task.... With getting the kids Bathed, fed and ready for bed before i go, but when you are there... it is so worth it !! Can't wait for our next catch-up in the holidays, which i think is a swim and with all the kids at our house!

U2 Concert

Last night Adam and I went to the U2 concert. It was an amazing show!! We met up before hand with my cousin and my brothers for a drink.

The stage was unbelievable... So huge!!

Even though we were in the 3rd tier of the stadium and quite far away, it was great just being there and listening to Bono live.

I went and got Elise's photo with Santa today... For the first Christmas of each of my kids i have had a photo of them taken with Santa... and then i figure if i never get another, it doesn't matter, i got one when they couldn't refuse..lol.... I think she looks very cute and happy on his knee.
Nic was with me and even though he didn't want his photo taken, he did go up and talk to him... which is huge for him :)

December 9th is all about Sam showing Adam his Kindy Portfolio and all the great work he has done this year.

December 10th was a great night spent at Tomorrow's Memories working the Christmas moonlight, We had to get dressed up for the spirit of the evening i wore a Santa costume.. was such a great night with lots of laughs.

December 11th was me just pondering the thought.... that this year we will have 3 children to celebrate the excitement of Christmas with, now that our little Elise is in our lives.

Been a busy few days around here..lol... and tomorrow is no different, we are off to a Rellie Chrissy picnic so will have a ton of photos to share with you all tomorrow.. Might have to do a double page for tomorrows December daily :)

December Daily ~ 7th & 8th

December 7th sees Sam writing his letter to Santa asking for a BEN 10 omnitrix ( lucky Santa is already onto that one and has it covered...lol)

December 8th is my "Teachers" playgroup, it is all the girls i used to teach with and their kids.
It is so good that we still get together once a month for a cuppa and a catchup. It is crazy that we have 14 kids between us all now... and still counting no doubt!!

December 5 -Is all about the boys and I putting the tree up. Adam was away at work when we did it. I allowed the boys to put the decorations on the tree which at times was hard for me..lol.. I had to allow my OCD when it comes to the Christmas tree to go out the window..ha ha ha.. especially when Nic was putting 4 baubles on the same branch!!! But they had fun and that's all that matters. I will admit though, that when they went to bed that night i fixed a few of the decorations up and spaced them out a little better... ha ha

December 6 - This was all the Outtakes of the photos i was trying to take of the kids in their Chrissy costumes. It was a very funny time.. My mum is standing behind me, making an idiot of herself to try and make all the kids to look at the camera at the same time..lol

I have decided that this year i am going to just do a very basic December Daily 2010, to remember our lead up to Chrissy and what the festive has in store for us. I am going to do a digi version this year using Ali Edwards 6x8 templates from Designer Digital, so that i can get them printed at HN and not have to worry about changing the sizing to much.
I also used Ali Edwards December Daily ~ 31 Days Overlays .

Its been a it of a crazy week for me. Adam has been away in Canberra and Melbourne from Sunday and doesn't get back until Friday afternoon, so have had the kids all to myself.

Today we had our first swim in the pool for the year. The boys were so excited !!!

8 Months

Cant believe that Elise is 8 months... Such a gorgeous girl... she has definitely come alive now..
I'm starting to think we look very similar..lol.. especially the big eyes :)

She is laughing and squealing at the top of her voice. She rolls everywhere, is just about up on her haunches rocking back and forth, so I'm assuming shell be on the move in the imminent future...

Albany Photos ~ Part 1

Here are some photos from the first few days on our trip away to Albany. I took 477 photos ( crazy..lol) , but probably only 150 were any good. So i figured the easiest way to show you some of my great shots is to mask them onto a Digi template.

This was Elise's first trip to the beach. It was a bit cold to go swimming as you can see by the jumpers we are all wearing.. lol... But she loved playing in the sand.

We took the boys fishing to Emu Point. There were no fish biting which was a bit of s shame bu the boys loved it anyway. I was slightly worried about them climbing over the rocks, but they loved it. Sam stuck at it a little longer than Nic did... he was more interested in throwing pebbles into the water..lol

This was the same arvo we took Elise to the Beach.. The boys couldn't swim, but loved taking their buckets and spades down and making sand castles and running along the beach with the ball.

We went to a couple of playgrounds while we were there. Sam loves playgrounds, he would make me take him one to everyday if i let him...lol. We also took the boys to the Batavia pirate ship.. They were able to climb down into it and walk around inside which was a lot of fun.

Will post some more photos tomorrow... Im still trying to unpack from the week. It would have to be one of the worst jobs ever..lol.. with loads of washing to do and putting away toys and books and beach gear, it just seems to take forever. I will probably still be doing it by the end of the week..lol.. Will keep you posted.

Had a great Holiday

Well I'm back from our week's holiday down in Albany. Had a really great week spending time at the beach, playing on the play grounds, riding bikes , walking and spending great quality time with Granma and Grandad.

Digi Layout

Earlier in the week there was a Link over at the Designer House Blog which gave you links to several blogs to collect parts of a Fall Digi kit. I challenged Tracey over at A Luscious Journey to collect the kit and create a layout using only that kit. I also did the same and then we were to post the layouts on our blogs.. It is amazing how each of our layouts are soooooooooooo different even though we have used the same kit. There was no reason for this challenge at all.. it was a " just because"...lol

You should head over to Tracey's blog and check out her layout. It is great. For someone who as only been scrapping for a couple of months she is very good !!

Welcome Summer... May you bring us lots of Sunny days so we can enjoy the sunshine playing in the pool together!!

Now i know its not Summer yet but with the weather getting to 37 yesterday here in Perth, the kids enjoyed the afternoon playing in the little pools. We cant swim in our big pool yet, Adam just needs to sort it out first. But kids had just as much fun in this pool!!

Do you know what spins me out the most is that last year there was only these two cheeky monkeys enjoying the pool. Now we have another little cheeky monkey ( Elise) who loves the water as much as they do....lol

PMH ~ Big Walk

Today, Lynn, Debbie and i took part in the 15th John Hughes Big Walk, raising money for the Kids at PMH.

This was the first time i have done this walk. The morning was amazing, with lots of people turning out. The sunshine was just perfect and the 15km's took us 2 hrs and 20 minutes to finish I'm thinking that's not too bad for my first effort..lol

This is me at the end...lol.. My legs were pretty sore :)

I'm glad i could be apart of something that helped raise money for Cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital. Looking forward to next year's big walk !

Farmer Sam

This term Sam's class is learning about Farms and Farm animals. Today they were having an Incursion of little farm animals coming to Kindy and a sausage sizzle. The Kids were asked to dress up as Farmers. Sam was so excited He has had his costume ready for a week and was awake at 5.30am this morning asking me when was it time to get ready for Kindy.. ( i tried to open one eye, and told him not now....lol)

Thank you to Granma who lent us her tractor for Sam to carry. He looks like a real Farmer..lol

Free Digi Template

You might remember last week, i did a post about Creativity By Crystal and her new template / Quick page series. This week she has a free template for you over on her blog. This template also has lots of other little bonuses that you can use on your page.

I used it to complete 2 layouts. The first layout i used it as a template and added my own papers, embellishments and title.......

The second i used it as a quick page and just added the photos, my own title and journaling.

Its awesome to be able to get 2 pages done, using the same template.. Which is what i need otherwise i will never, ever get through the millions of photos that i have taken of the kids and our family...lol

There has got be a reason as to why this gorgeous little Bee is nearly killing me.. I took these photos today because taking photos makes me happy and I felt so tired and run down today, that i decided to dress Elise up and take some photos.
The poor little thing has been suffering with some gastro, teething, controlled crying and is very very tired. ( me too for that matter..lol)

A Busy 3 Days ...

Friday, Saturday and Sunday were some really busy days for us.
On Friday the kids and i spent the morning down at Liz's house. We went to the Bibra lake park with her neighbour Lisa, Ari and Eamon. The boys had a great play, and then spent some time counting all the ducks..lol... Was very cute :)

Then Saturday we went to Brendan's 3rd Birthday. The poor little guy had to celebrate his birthday with a broken foot. I think he had a great morning though with all his little friends and cousins.

Then on Sunday i joined my neighbour Lynn and her Friend Deb to participate in the Walk for a Cure - Juvenile Diabetes. Was such a gorgeous morning to walk around the river. It did get a bit hot towards the end though. Looking forward to our next one in 2 weeks time!

So i was in bed early last night...lol...

Today was magnificent weather, so i decided to get the kids and I out of the house. Dad works at the Wanneroo council, so mum and i took the kids to the wanneroo park and met dad for a cuppa and morning tea. If you've never been to the wanneroo park. You should go..its awesome!

The cutest thing was, when we were driving home in the car. Sam and I were talking about how good it was to see and have Grandad at the park...... and he says to me " it's shame grandad had to go back to work Mumma wasn't it.. a real big shame"....lol
